The Nort America Nebula is a large nebular region found in the Swan constellation. The high concentration on ionized hydrogen gas gives the nebula its characteristic red-ish colour that we can also find in most other emission nebulas. NGC 7000 is located at about 2000 l.y. from Earth and it covers an area of 50 l.y. across.
Its low light density makes it invisible to the human eye through a telescope, but it really shines in long-exposure deep-sky phtographs.
